This client's brief for this site was to design a professional online presence to complement their high-end practice of managing construction of (multi) million dollar homes. Essentially an extensive online updateable brochure. The client style guidelines consisted of an existing business card and a decided colour palette. I used a combination of Flash, CSS stylesheets, and DHTML layers, to achieve the look the client desired. The CEO of the company said; "I get many very positive comments about our web page.....its been a great boost to business... " "I get an enormous number of compliments about our web page....(from all over the world!) " Click on the URL provided to view the site. |
| www.australianceramics.com.au (Australian Journal of Ceramics) |
Originally hired by The Potters Society of Australia in 2000 to guide their development of a professional, efficient online presence to accompany their long-established printed journal. I designed the initial web site and maintain it quarterly to this day. My role is to oversee the conversion of each edition of the hard-copy Journal of Australian ceramics into the html format of the Australian Ceramics website. I work off the raw Quark files and raw jpgs, and manipulate them into the desired format. I also interperet their advertisers existing print ads and create still and animated gif banners. In April 2006 in tandem with a web programmer I designed the online index of 6 years of back issues of The Journal of Australian Ceramics. Using a standards compliant CSS layout and SSI's the design integrates with an updateable database which produces the XML code/data. Eventually the site will index the entire back catalogue. The URL is www.australianceramics.com.au/biblio/index_bib.html The editor Trisha Dean wrote of my involvement... "The site has four distinct strands....Grant's creative and technical input into all these strands has meant that the site is both visually dynamic, and easy to navigate.....Our association with Antfarm Design and Grant Ayre has been a very successful one, and australianceramics.com receives very favourable feedback from it's users." Footnote: The site is currently being re-designed with a Content Management system inbuilt and an fully integrated artist directory, forum, and general advanced Web 2.0 functionality all round. The site will be fully launched in Feb 2008. Click on the URL provided to view the site. |
| www.australianceramics.com.au/directory (Australian Ceramics Directory) |
The Australian Ceramics Assocaiation (formerly The Potters Society of Australia) in 2002 wished to upgrade their cumbersome printed directory of practicing Australian ceramic artists. The thick book as it was was costly and time consuming to update and could only be done every 3-4 years - hence it was often out of date. The aims therefore of the online project was to develop a easy to use interface for artists to apply for inclusion, and for users to search and find artists from a easily updated database. Working with a programmer for the back-end requirements I developed the look and feel for the site and assisted the tuition on the employees who were interfacing with the updating screens. The editor Trisha Dean wrote of my involvement... "Grant worked with the Society to create a directory which is both professional and user-friendly." Footnote: The site is currently being re-designed along with the parent site - with a Content Management system inbuilt and an fully integrated artist directory, forum, and general advanced Web 2.0 functionality all round. The site will be fully launched in Feb 2008. Click on the URL provided to view the site. |
| www.thewinepoint.com.au (The Wine Point - Cleanskin wine retailer) |
The Wine Point - a cleanskin wine retailer opened for business in 2004 at Birkenhead Point in Sydney. The co-owner hired myself and my partner in Antfarm Design to 'create' the look and feel of the wine labels, printed publicity, all point of sale signage and of course a website - incorporating an e-commerce facility for online sales. Site design incorporates html and CSS, is fast loading and integrates tightly with the overall graphic look we designed for the business. The client Brendan Hilferty wrote, "My business is based on a shopfront that is very clear and precise about what it is and how it is displayed. I need to get straight to the point about what I'm offering. The brief for the website was to translate this feel online. I think the design nailed it. A clean, precise, easy to read and understand site that is the perfect reflection of my business. This has been reinforced by constant positive feedback from customers. I can't recommend Antfarm too highly. Click on the URL provided to view the site. |
